The 2017 Ford Fusion brings significant updates including new front styling with signature lighting and available LED headlights with new grille options, as well as a freshly redesigned rear end. A new high-end Platinum model provides a premium experience for Fusion buyers.
Technology has always played a key role with this car, and the 2017 model is no different. A new rotary gear shift dial is standard across the Fusion range, offering a high-tech and functional experience combined with a low-profile design for a spacious-feeling cabin. The new rotary dial allows for easier access to new storage bins, illuminated USB charge port and ergonomically designed cup holders.
Available SYNC® 3 includes Siri EyesFree® capability to help Fusion drivers connect and control their iPhone on the road. SYNC Connect is available to enable owners to remotely start their car, schedule future starts, or lock and unlock the car using a smartphone. The technology provides vehicle location information, as well as tire pressure, battery and fuel levels. SYNC Connect comes with complimentary activation for five years.
Available new driver-assist technologies* include adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go functionality, as well as Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection featuring forward collision warning with brake support and active braking, and lane-keeping assist. Also included is optional enhanced active park assist that builds on Ford’s parallel parking technology. This system helps drivers find a perpendicular parking spot, calculate the path, and steer the car to properly position it within the space, with the driver controlling throttle, brake and gear shifter.
Optional Blind Spot Information System with cross-traffic alert includes sensors in the car’s rear quarter-panels that can detect traffic in a driver’s blind spot, providing both audible and visual warnings if traffic – unseen by the driver – is detected. BLIS® enables cross-traffic alert, warning the driver of oncoming traffic when slowly backing out of a parking space with obstructed views. In combination with a standard rearview camera, BLIS helps make for confident maneuvering in parking lots.
A variety of engines are available including the 2.5-liter i-VCT I-4. Also available are a 2.0-liter EcoBoost® I-4 and a 1.5-liter EcoBoost I-4; these include Auto Start-Stop as standard equipment (technology available only with EcoBoost). At a stop, the engine shuts off to minimize idling to help reduce emissions. When brake pressure is released, the engine instantly turns back on. A six-speed automatic transmission is standard equipment across all engine choices.
Fusion Platinum introduces a truly premium interior, including quilted seating surfaces and door panels; a high-end, leather-wrapped instrument panel and window sills; and hand-wrapped steering wheel finished in premium Venetian leather. This edition features a unique grille finished in Magnetic paint and 19-inch polished wheels, along with the 2.0-liter EcoBoost I-4 with standard all-wheel drive.
